ISTJ Enneagram

We spoke about the ISTJ Enneagram personality type in this article. We discovered that the ISTJ Enneagram shares features from all nine Enneagram types as well as the ISTJ personality.

I. The overview of ISTJ Enneagram

Enneagrams are a typology or map of human personalities. George Ivanovich Gurdjieff, Oscar Ichazo, and Claudio Naranjo created it.
The ISTJ Enneagram incorporates both the basic Enneagram type and the MBTI personality qualities. Both sorts of features complement one another. These individuals have a strong desire to do good in line with their principles, and they are virtuous, balanced, unselfish, reasonable, but also warm, action-oriented, thoughtful, compassionate, empathetic, kind, and idealistic personalities with an interpersonal focus. They attempt to educate people, do the right thing, and feel obligated to do so.

However, when paired with each enneatype, each combination (9 kinds of ISTJ Enneagram) will have aspects in common with this MBTI personality type and differences.

Please keep in mind that the ISTJ personality type is commonly associated with the enneagram categories listed below:

  • ISTJ Enneagram Type 1;

  • ISTJ Enneagram Type 5;

  • ISTJ Enneagram Type 6.

II. The ISTJ Enneagram with 9 Types

1. ISTJ Enneagram type 1

In the Enneagram inventory, the majority of ISTJs were classified as Type 1s (Type 1 with a 9 wing: 54 percent ; Type 1 with a 2 wing: 46 percent ). Surprisingly, the combination of auxiliary extroverted thinking and tertiary introverted emotion appears to be associated with the 1 Enneagram type, since many ISTJs and INTJs identify as such.

Enneagram ISTJ Type 1 people are the ethical, justice-focused individuals who take up the role of upstanding citizens in their communities. They are likely to take strong, clear opinions on a wide range of moral problems, which they will vigorously defend. This may cause them to clash with others, but the type 1 ISTJ Enneagram will regard it as a necessary evil since they feel it as their personal mission in life to express and defend their ideals.

Type 1 ISTJs may be mistaken by others to be Fi-dominant types, as they place such a heavy focus on morality and justice. They may also be mistaken for extroverts, as they are unafraid to speak up about what they believe to be right.

Because of their emphasis on morality and justice, Type 1 ISTJs may be misunderstood for Fi-dominant types by others. They may also be misidentified as extroverts because they are unafraid to stand up for what they feel is right.

This type's workstyle is efficient, thorough, and organized, with high personal standards of behavior; they usually work for themselves. They may take on, complete others' jobs instead of asking them to redo it, and/or take on too much in work, school, etc. because they believe it "takes less time for me to do it."

2. ISTJ Enneagram type 2

Enneagram type 2 ISTJs are afraid of being worthless and unwanted. As a result, they strive tirelessly to address the needs of their community and interact with others in order to prevent this from happening. Their life ambition is to be accepted.

To do this, they pay attention to the demands of others while ignoring their own. They are detail-oriented, reasonable, and utilize past experiences to influence their future actions. They spend their lives according to a plan and think things through logically. It is unusual for them to take chances.

Small details are important to ISTJ Enneagram type 2 persons at work. They are perfectionists with a rigorous conscience who are determined to accomplish what is right. They like to stick to the plan and achieve their goals in a consistent manner. They like clarity and precision in their work. Rules and rules are important in their employment since they provide them with direction. They dislike being governed by others and require flexibility.

3. ISTJ Enneagram type 3

This subtype is more concerned with success and less concerned with interpersonal and social relationships. They are reserved, calm, and have an artistic sensibility. They may be emotionally susceptible, but their self-expression is restricted.

ISTJ Enneagram type 3 persons are more likely to take on leadership roles and like being the center of attention than other ISTJs. This implies that they may have a strong drive to 'accomplish' on a competitive level, and they may show little interest in doing the labor of others unless it advances their own achievement.

They may sometimes sacrifice personal principles in order to advance professionally, and therefore lose touch with what actually motivates them. They will direct their productivity towards areas of strength, where Si-dom accuracy might allow them to become 'the best' through repeated practices.

4. ISTJ Enneagram type 4

They desire to make a difference in the world and be admired by others. They are motivated by a desire to be real and innovative. They pay attention to details and work in a consistent and unique manner. They are worried about their social image and base their conduct and views on previous experiences.

This subtype's healthy forms are creative, with a high level of emotional awareness and intellectual comprehension. They are drawn to the arts and social sciences because they want to understand human behavior. Such people are unconcerned about the opinions of others and do whatever they want. Their self-expression is original, real, and one-of-a-kind, and they make things for themselves rather than for a public.

5. ISTJ Enneagram type 5

A significant proportion of ISTJs choose 5 as their Enneagram type (Type 5 with a 4 wing: 18 percent ; Type 5 with a 6 wing: 82 percent ). Though type 5 is normally associated with the cognitive function of introverted thinking, the combination of introverted sensing and extroverted thinking may easily resemble the desire to have a comprehensive understanding of how the world operates.

Individuals with the ISTJ Enneagram type 5 are likely to place a high value on their introverted sense, desiring to locate the best, most trustworthy information accessible to them in each scenario. They will want to comprehend the world intellectually and may be slower to act than other ISTJs — they must first ensure that they are using the correct tools to achieve their aim.

Because of their analytical character, Type 5 ISTJs are sometimes misidentified as INTJs or INTPs by others. They may also mistype as INTJs since they consider themselves as extremely analytical – not realizing that Si is an analytical function in and of itself. Furthermore, these people are frequently disconnected in their love relationships and secretive' about their background, and they are irritated when others demonstrate incompetence or 'neediness.'

6. ISTJ Enneagram type 6

A sizable fraction of ISTJs were classified as Type 6s in the Enneagram system (Type 6 with a 5 wing: 100 percent ; Type 6 with a 7 wing: 0 percent ). Because introverted sensing is associated with the 6 personality type, this coupling makes sense. ISTJ Enneagram type 6 persons are very security-oriented and would go to virtually any length to protect themselves and others they care about. They are extremely meticulous and hardworking, remaining devoted to the businesses, communities, and organizations in which they get involved.

Type 6 ISTJs are occasionally misidentified as ISFJs because they are genuinely committed and dedicated to their loved ones — but that devotion stems from an internal commitment they made using their introverted feeling, not the auxiliary function of extroverted feeling for ISFJs.

These folks are motivated by fears of "the big unknown" and rely on extensive research and inquiry to prepare for the worst. They are wary of taking risks and are quick to bring out logical flaws. As a result, they may become rigid in their views and traditionalist in their viewpoint.

7. ISTJ Enneagram type 7

The ISTJ Enneagram type 7 is concerned about losing out on chances and having fun. They are torn between wanting to be dependable and follow through on promises but yet requiring freedom of choice. They strive to be happy and content, as seen by their excitement in the smallest details of daily life.

Their overall approach is logical, detail-oriented, and sensible. They make every effort to achieve their goals, yet they may postpone in order to explore any opportunity for delight.

They like careers that are fast-paced and allow them to express their adventurous side, such as publicist, pilot, journalist, media planner, travel writer, military, and so on. They maintain their work well-organized and well-ordered. Instructions and norms are given special attention, but students are encouraged to exhibit their creativity as well. They despise being controlled and restricted, yet they do effectively both with and without management.

8. ISTJ Enneagram type 8

People with the ISTJ Enneagram type 8 are more assertive and confrontational than other ISTJ Enneagram types, and they are more likely to be straightforward when others are not carrying their weight in common areas. They may develop overly rigid black-and-white thinking based on factual facts and affected by personal experiences (Si/Te/Fi, with inferior Ne lack of growth / 8 inhibiting Ne's natural urge to "open up to alternative possible interpretations").

They are combative, outspoken, seek authority and autonomy, are direct, realistic, and have an extroverted disposition. Their character, demeanor, and presenting style are constant across circumstances and individuals. They are straightforward, outspoken, and action-oriented.

These personalities are frequently agitated by their inability to connect with their own feelings, as they struggle to identify and comprehend things on an emotional level.

Similarly, because their lives center around activities, they are frustrated when they believe they lack control and are not accomplishing anything significant. They become worried when they notice that those around them do not have the same amount of energy as them or are not doing anything constructive. Finally, people' perceptions of them as weak and vulnerable harm their pride since they avoid vulnerability at all costs.

9. ISTJ Enneagram type 9

People with this ISTJ Enneagram personality type have a tranquil sense of self and are focused on executing their work effectively and on time in order to prevent potential work-related problems or unhappy clients, habitually concealing their own thoughts and feelings.
The ISTJ Enneagram type 9 dread of making decisions would amplify inferior Ne worries about change and the unknown, causing them to put off making life-changing decisions for as long as possible.
